Blechreiz
Posted On 04.50 by Unknown | 0 komentar |
Blechreiz is a German ska
band founded in 1983 in southern Berlin. Along with Skaos from Bavarian
Krumbach, No Sports, The Braces from Jülich, El Bosso & die
Ping-Pongs from Munster and The Busters
from Wiesloch, Blechreiz was one of the pioneers of the German ska
scene at the end of the 1980s and the beginning of the 1990s. The band
mostly plays songs it writes and arranges itself. A number of changes in
the lineup has meant that Blechreiz’s style has varied over the years.
Blechreiz allies itself with anti-racist and anti-fascist skinheads such as Skinheads Against Racial Prejudice (SHARP).

SOULJAH
Posted On 00.09 by Unknown | 0 komentar |
Souljah was formed back in 1998. At first, it was named
Arigatoo. Then along with the expanding music that Souljah made, Souljah
decided to change the name to Souljah at 2005. With Arigatoo, Souljah
did some compilation albums; one with Authority Records from Japan,
titled Asian Ska Foundation in 2003 and the other was with Sony Music
Indonesia, titled Ska Mania back in 2000. And in 2003, Arigatoo
released full album titled Kami Bukan Perawan Lagi (We're Not Virgins
Anymore). Later on, in 2005 Souljah released their first album, entitled
"Breaking The Roots", with hit single Jamaica's Away. In 2007, Souljah
released second album, titled "Bersamamu" (To Be With You), with hit
single Bersamamu. For now, Souljah albums distributed only in Indonesia.
But for you who live outside Indonesia, you can buy our songs at
itunes. In 2009 Souljah released their third album which called Mestakung; a
short for Semesta Mendukung (Universe Supports). The album completed the
'trilogy' red-yellow-green. If somebody has all Souljah's albums and
keep it side by side from the first one, then you'll get the color; red,
yellow, and green. Souljah is actively doing shows in Indonesia, mostly
in Jakarta and area nearby. Aside of that they also started up their
own record company called Offbeat Music Indonesia. Souljah is about to
start producing their fourth album soon.

The Expanders
Posted On 05.15 by Unknown | 0 komentar |
The Expanders began playing reggae music together in the summer of 2003,
and today are one of the most respected and hardest working reggae
bands in Southern California. They have come to be known for their
vintage "rockers" style of reggae, played in the tradition of classic
1970s Jamaican groups like The Ethiopians, Culture, The Mighty Diamonds,
etc. Their music emphasizes three-part vocal harmonies and strong song
writing. In addition to performing their own original material and
rare Jamaican scorchers, since 2006 The Expanders have been the backing
band of choice for legendary Jamaican singers when they come to
California to perform, having backed such classic artists as Alton
Ellis, The Maytones, The Ethiopians, The Wailing Souls, and many more.
For two years in a row they were featured at the Sierra Nevada World
Music Festival in Mendocino County, where their performances were
praised in "The Beat" magazine as having recreated "the old classic
Kingston rocksteady sound to a T". They have been frequent guests on
SoCal radio shows such as "Reggae Central w/ Chuck Foster" (90.7 fm) and
"The Reggae Show w/ Junor Francis" (88.9 fm). In addition to playing
in The Expanders, several members of the band also play in Hepcat, The
Lions, Chris Murray Combo, See Spot and Boogaloo Assassins.

Melbourne Ska Orchestra
Posted On 04.52 by Unknown | 0 komentar |
In 2003, the time was right. A world-record attempt to have the
largest number of horn players on stage at the same time playing the
ska-skank saw a slew of musicians take the stage at St Kilda’s Gershwin
Room, and although nobody remembered to check if the record had actually
been set, from this sold-out performance the Melbourne Ska Orchestra was
born. Assembled from some of Australia’s preeminent names in Ska and
Reggae and fronted by inimitable frontman Nicky Bomba (Bomba,
Bustamento, John Butler Trio), the soaring popularity of the band is
seeing the MSO fast becoming a fixture of Australia’s musical landscape.
Now, after more than a decade of sold-out shows and electrifying festival appearances the MSO has
come together to produce a different kind of record. Their self-titled
debut album showcases the versatility of a genre that has influenced
some of the most venerated names in music, from Bob Marley to Gwen
Stefani, as well as demonstrating a uniquely Australian vision of the
exuberance and freewheeling colour of contemporary Ska.
